Out of The Woods Lyme Disease Healing & Detox Retreats- France, California, Montana

With true pleasure and deep respect to the often devastating and compromising states a Lyme disease or tick borne infection can induce, I am collaborating my decades of professional and 15 years of personal first hand experience with chronic Lyme, in deeply restorative healing retreat settings with the gifted healers of Amara of Ojai Healing Center.

http://amaraojai.com/

Dr Edie Resto, chiropractor and, graduate of Bastyr Naturopathic College, myself and her high caliber team successfully utilize multiple therapeutic modalities. We help assess each individual’s systemic weakness and damages induced by the infections, mold toxins, heavy metals, leaky gut, emotional injury and more via pre-program intake assessment interviews and questionnaires.

Under the direction of Dr. Resto (known lovingly to all as Dr. Edie) and my body-mind-spirit understanding of this complex condition, a personalized plan is created incorporating multiple natural medicine modalities. The “Out of The Woods Lyme Retreat” healing programs are different than any other, taking into consideration the specific client, their condition, past treatments, and a strategically planned course of action. Our practitioners have studied how these reliable modalities compliment each other and how to create a perfected environment for the body to recalibrate and heal. Please visit the AmaraOjai.com website to meet your practitioner team.

Once the client is on location, pre and post benchmarks are established with BioMeridian, Lens Neuro Feedback, homeopathic and energetic practitioner exams and evaluations. Our programs all include Dr Edie’s proven and truly effective deep detox dietary protocol. Each client will receive a customized restorative treatment plan incorporating a personal detox diet, acupuncture and chiropractic sessions, herbal and nutritive supplements, homeopathic remedies, Reiki and Body Resonance treatments, mud and salt baths, herbal hot wraps, detox foot baths, metaphysical energetic healing exercises, meditations and emotional and spiritual supportive renewal. This is truly the comprehensive kind of replenishing healing work so many Lyme disease cases have been ‘craving’!

Our mission is to create nurturing and restorative retreats in beautiful locations that feed the body, mind and spirit. Having worked with thousands of Lyme disease and chronic illness cases, we understand the vast nature of depletion, exhaustion, systemic consequences and the true emotional and spiritual suffering the afflicted experience. True healing necessitates tending to all planes of the being in order to gain wholeness and wellness.

We have three sets of retreats planned for the 2015-6 year. Join us in France this summer (July-August), Ojai, California (February 2016) or Helena Montana (June 2016). Of course you are welcome to attend all! See more details on the Amara Healing Center website.

Lyme disease asks us to dig deep. Establishing an amalgam of therapies to help the body, mind and spirit to purge toxins, bad patterns, unwanted mental grooves, wayward biochemistry and self-defeating beliefs is critical to reforming an interior platform of clear, fresh terrain in order for the benefits of supplements, homeopathics, dietary changes, medicines to work, and prompt healthier new cells to form as well as a more optimal ‘mindset’ to prompt better immune, endocrine and neurological functions and other bodily functions.

The ‘older’ version of focusing primarily on killing off the Lyme and co-infections microbes brings a person only ‘so far’ in their complete healing. Most chronic cases plateau once the bulk of the infectious organisms have been reduced. However, a great deal of damage and depletions have been inflicted from fighting a severe infection for months and years, as well as often sky-high degrees of toxic cellular debris and endotoxins (ammonia overload) in many cases. This is where the Out Of The Woods Retreats are special and unique.

We are uniting the best of traditional medicine and complementary natural medicine with a team of practitioners to work with you. Our approach aims to restore depletions, improve energy, rid ‘brain fog’ and cognitive impairment, cleanse toxins and mend the spirit. The emotional and spiritual suffering from Lyme disease is just as intrinsic as the physical. The goal is to help you find a higher calibration of well-being. Two weeks can not encompass ‘curing’ Lyme disease and co-infections, but the retreats are able to help attendees find better balance and a clearer pathway to healing.

Teenagers & Lyme Disease Podcast with Dr. Lantsman, Lyme Light Radio

Teenagers get Lyme disease! No age group is exempt from this bacterial infection, spread by the common tick. Incidence of cases contracted is soaring. I learned from researcher, Dr. John Aucott, that the 300,00 annual cases contracted in the USA surpasses the peak of the AIDS epidemic, which teetered at 104,000 cases annually in the late 1980’s. Everyone needs to be tick ALERT nationwide.

On September 4, “Lyme Light Radio with Katina” featured the subject of “Teenagers and Lyme Disease”. This is a powerful show. Please listen to the podcast HERE.

The esteemed Dr. Katherine Lantsman, mypathmedical.com, an Integrative Medicine physician who specializes in tick borne illness embodies my philosophy of success in overcoming Lyme disease. She has a strong handle on the complexity of symptoms this illness induces.

Killing the microbial infections (often more than just borrelia burgdorferi exists inside your body), defining the imbalances and depletions induced from a rampant infection, addressing food, allergies, fungal overgrowth, and tending to emotional and spiritual aspects of chronic illness, she integrates with aplomb.

Please pay close attention to the case she shares of 18 year old “Roger”! It is fascinating to witness how Dr. Lantsman isolated the severe endocrine imbalances he was afflicted with, prominent endocrinologists said he was “fine” and lyme specialists claimed none of the known antibiotic therapies were effective with Roger. Defeated, seriously ill, diabetic, isolated, 30 lbs overweight and sinking at age 19, Roger has made enormous recovery strides in less than one year, via Dr. Lantsman’s Integrative Medicine skills. Her discussion with me is an eye-opener!

Teens often manifest vivid emotional, mental and neurological symptoms from ‘hidden’ Lyme disease infections. Since their nervous systems are still developing and hormones are being rapidly produced, if a bacterial infection sets up residence in their body,  ‘odd’ symptoms surface readily, while their very active immune response may keep physical symptoms at a milder display than adults. Each case is unique though, and a broad spectrum of symptoms may erupt.

Anxiety, insomnia, OCD, ADD/ADHD, headaches, depression, stammering, malaise, poor concentration, angry rages, panic, tics, tourette syndrome, are common manifestations in the nervous system teens easily display with Lyme, and are the majority of the time misdiagnosed, medicated and left malingering.

Body aches, sore joints or ribs, exhaustion, digestive disorders and brain fog are often dismissed as ‘teenage angst’. Lyme beware! The microbes are messing around with our treasured offspring’s chemistry. They are sick and typically misdiagnosed. I have met too many 20 year olds whom were put on adderall for years, complaining with a ‘soccer’ knee injury, and too tired to do homework.

Get them properly test at Igenex or Clongen labs.

Chloe Rapp of Massachusetts bravely shared her ‘lost’ 9 years as a teen, near death’s door, despite aggressive Lyme antibiotic therapy, with us on-air. Thank you, articulate, empathic, intelligent Chloe for holding on to your beautiful spirit during these treacherous times in your life. I applause your tenacity and inner belief that you WILL recover fully, despite the damage Lyme disease and excessive antibiotics induced. Chloe’s message, conveyed in her interview, to promote support in school systems for teens dealing with Lyme disease can not be SHOUTED loud enough! I will help you get this platform going. Teens with Lyme need HELP!

It is my privilege to host “Lyme Light Radio”! Each week we look at Lyme disease and tick borne illness with a different lens. THere is so much we can learn from one another, as well as help promote awareness and dialogue. As always, I thank the powers that be, which helped place me in this role. Please share today’s link with your friends and group.

Dr. Lantsman and Chloe Rapp were profoundly honest and inspirational guests. Thank you for joining us and caring enough to help others. Also, thank you to our sponsor Advanced Cell Training, at AdvancedCellTraining.com, for helping Lyme Light Radio shine.

Hi everyone,

I hope you have been enjoying your summer.

I wanted you to know about a new radio show, Lyme Light Radio, that was launched  Wednesday August 14, by my childhood friend, Katina Makris (4pm EST/1pm PST). Please tune in, if you can. This weekly host/ guest/ call-in format show will discuss all matters related to Lyme disease and recovery. Katina’s first guest will be Mara Williams, author of “Nature’s Dirty Needle”.  Besides airing on AM talk radio station 1230 WBLQ, Lyme Light Radio will stream on 3 web stations-  http://www.wblq.net/http://transformationtalkradio.com/ and the syndicated http://www.thedrpatshow.com/.   From bedridden 7 years ago, to writing and promoting her acclaimed book, “Out of the Woods”, Katina is now further strengthening Lyme disease awareness and education by interviewing medical researchers, doctors, physician scientists, advocates, patients, and other Lyme disease experts on the air.  It is a great opportunity to learn and actively participate in the discussion.

Have you seen the room-for-debate blog on “Deconstructing Lyme Disease” in this week’s NY Times?  -Good that the Times is keeping a wide array of Lyme disease issues in the forefront of discussion.  I believe the debate further supports the value of the translational clinical research being conducted by Dr. John Aucott of Johns Hopkins at the Lyme Disease Research Foundation.

If you are on Martha’s Vineyard this weekend, please come to the “Bite Back for a Cure” kickoff bike ride to raise money for Lyme disease awareness and research on August 18th from 11am-1pm.  The Lyme Center of Martha’s Vineyard and Tick Borne Disease Alliance are helping sponsor a day of events, which also includes a lecture by Katina Makris in Chillmark (1pm) and a fundraiser dinner in West Tisbury (6-9PM). http://www.mvlymecenter.org/events/august-18th-bite-back/  Dr. John Aucott, Johns Hopkins’ physician scientist, will be one of the handful of speakers introduced at the dinner and available to meet with throughout the day.  Dr. Aucott’s Lyme Disease Research Foundation continues to lead the charge on Lyme disease clinical research.

Hope you are feeling well and enjoying your summer.

Warm regards,

Nancy Dougherty

P.S. My Lyme disease work has just become even more personal, with our son, Ryan (20), being diagnosed with Lyme disease last week, after complaining about persistent intense headaches, ‘brain fog’, fever, etc.  We are treating him with doxy and hoping he does not end up with persistent symptoms.  A major Boston hospital sent him home without serology, but his pediatrician took the Lyme threat seriously and ordered a Western blot test which came back positive. – If you suspect Lyme disease, you have to be so tenacious!

Prayer of Protection

I feel the suffering of the maimed people affected by the Boston Marathon bombing. So much shock and betrayal2013-01-05 16.36.11 has ricocheted through our culture on a springtime day. Boston, a normally safe and cultured city suffered a vicious wound on April 16 and many of us too, feel the effects.

Lyme disease patients in particular have very sensitive nervous system’s and taxed adrenal glands, making them very vulnerable to stress, upset, emotional surges. The adrenalin and stress hormones we make under upsetting news and situations can affect our health and well-being. Self care and protection is a must. The upset of the Boston masacre is of course going to resonate in many hearts and bodies.

I offer this prayer of protection, to all the individuals and families who were directly affected and hurt by the bombs and to all of ‘us’ who are energetically empathic.

May I be protected and guided today and always.
May no harm come to me or my loved ones.
May the souls and bodies wounded by the Boston bombing, heal fully.
May our hearts be freed of pain and sorrow.
May love shine upon and within me now and forever.

In gratitude, Katina Makris, CCH, CIH

PARKING:
Although parking is available at the Library Center, the parking lots may fill when concerts, community events, or special events are held. Patrons are cautioned not to park along red-curbed areas; the police will issue tickets. If the on-site parking lots are full, off-site parking is available along Meanley Drive, which is located to the south of the Library, and along Red Cedar Drive, which is located to the east of the Library.

To reach the Meanley Drive off-site parking area from the Library, exit the Library parking lot by turning left onto Scripps Lake Drive, left again at the traffic light onto Scripps Ranch Boulevard, then left again at the traffic light onto Meanley Drive. Park along the street at the end of Meanley Drive, near the circle (continuing past the circle will take you away from the Library). You may also park in a city lot that can be reached by turning right as soon as you reach the circle at the end of Meanley Drive. A short, pleasant walk along a paved, lighted walkway (shown in the photograph to the left) will take you up a gentle hillside to the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center.

To reach the Red Cedar Drive off-site parking area from the Library, exit the Library parking lot by turning right onto Scripps Lake Drive, then right again at the traffic light onto Red Cedar Drive. Park along Red Cedar Drive in the vicinity of Miramar Ranch Elementary School.
