Kerry Ann Lang, medical health professional and myself will lead a first of its kind recovery workshop at the prestigious Dean Center for Lyme disease, on Sunday November 13 from 10 am – 3:30 pm, at Spaulding Rehab Center, located at 300 First Ave, Charlestown, Boston. See the attached flier for more details.
Many individuals struggling with chronic Lyme disease, autoimmune illnesses and ‘post Lyme syndrome’ are coping with often profound emotional and spiritual wounds. Tending to these facets of illness are just as essential as tending to the physical. The human being is not compartmentalized, but interwoven; body, mind and spirit. Kerry and myself both have years of experience as health care professionals helping people mend from these issues and more.
We welcome all to this special day long retreat. Our experience and whole person healing model breaks through to the inner healing energy available within each and every one of us, implanted at birth, but often worn down or glossed over when we are locked into sheer coping and survival mode with tick borne diseases and autoimmune relay syndromes.
We aim to help you gain invaluable self help skills as well as experience the feeling of immediate healing energy at the workshop. Learning how to ‘tap into’ the wise counselor of our intutitive mind, as well as how to ignite the mind- body pathway, termed epigentic medicine in current times, prompts the production of postive brain neurotransmiters which in turn support the immune system, quell the run away frenetic sympathetic nervous system and amplify our ability to nourish more self love and care.
Katina’s newest book “Autoimmune Illness & Lyme Disease Recovery Guide, Mending Body, Mind & Spirit” delves into this portion of healing, as well as the brass tacks savvy of other physically directed recovery tools, with her 35 years of professional health care practice experience.
Lyme disease is currently the fastest spreading infectious illness in the USA with the Center for Disease Control acknowledging 300,000 cases per year, and actual infections likely closer to 1 million annually. Only 10% at best, are properly diagnosed due to the fact the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) still informs physicians to test with a 40 year old outdated ELISA Lyme test, that bears a 70% false negative result. Scant medical research time or money has been put into finding a more accurate and quickly effective diagnostic test or an annual screening method. Only new cases in the tight window of 2-12 weeks potentially will show a positive finding with the ELISA.
Additionally, many physicians in various regions of the USA and world, are not Lyme savvy and dismiss Lyme disease as ‘not being found in our state’ (false- every state including Hawaii is infected) or ‘you did not have a bull’s eye rash (false- only 40% show it) or ‘two weeks of antibiotics are all you need, any other lingering symptoms are another condition’ (false, 4-6 weeks minimum are needed to kill off a new infection with the organism having a VERY slow 6 week reproduction cycle). The result is hundreds of thousands of people annually improperly cared for.
The majority of cases of Lyme disease are misdiagnosed as flu, Bells Palsy, CFS, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, learning disabilities, growing pains in children, depression, migraines and other assorted autoimmune diseases, including MS, ALS, and Lupus. The privately funded and researching specialty Labs; IgeneX, Clongen, Frye, Neuroscience must be used for testing, not the local Quest, Labcorp or hospital lab that 99% of our doctors rely upon.
Medical schools give a mere 15 minutes of Lyme disease and tick borne infection training and still call Lyme a ‘short term infectious illness’, though the bacteria is a spirochete cousin to syphilis which augers its way from blood stream, to tissues, joints, organs, glands and eventually into the spinal fluid and brain. Dr. Alan MacDonald has proven MS and Alzheimer are linked to Lyme spirocetes found in the spinal fluid and brain tissues.
With this dismal news looming, we still bring you hope. In 2000 I contracted acute Lyme disease and co-infections, that rapidly attacked my nervous system, heart, digestive tract and muscle fascia, leaving me bedridden and saddled with autoimmune illnesses for 5 treacherous years and 3 faulty ELISA tests, until an aware colleague had me tested at one of the state of the art labs and my 5 year healing journey began, helping me reclaim all my cognitive damage, endocrine and immune disruption and most importantly mend my seriously broken spirit and emoltional trauma induced by illness and medical mismanagement. Kerry too has faced Lyme disease with Integrative Medicine and Mind-Spirt healing.
Kerry and I both are passionate about facilitating the emotional and spiritual recovery components from these diseases. We all know how resilient the human being is when proper support and guidance can be available. Please come join us for this break through workshop. Our personal healings’ and years of helping private clients now translates to this day long at The Dean Center. Some scholarhsips are available.
Bring a bag lunch, a blanket or yoga mat if you need to lie down, wear comfy clothing, and be open to the wondrous experience of being in the presence of two healing professionals whom believe in your more optimal future!! $25 tuition.
